Testing Center

The Delaware County Community College Testing Center is located in the Academic Building, Room 4260 on the Marple Campus. Testing is also available at other campus locations. For more information, contact the Testing Center at 610-325-2776 or Assessment Services at 610-359-5322. 

1. In order to take any test a DCCC ID or current state photo ID is required. 
2. Current students taking an exam, must know the instructor's name. You will be permitted to have with you only what your instructor has specified on the test direction sheet. 
3. All tests must be completed 15 minutes before closing time. Please allow enough time to complete your test.
4. Appointments are required for any computer-based test. To schedule, contact the Testing Center at 610-325-2776.

Minors may not accompany anyone in the testing center and may not wait unattended on college property.


Placement Test

The placement test can be waived for students having a college composition course and /or a college mathematics course from an accredited college with a final grade of C or better. Students can also waive the placement test with the appropriate SAT or ACT scores. New students that are not eligible to waive the placement test are required test for English composition, reading and mathematics. Test results indicate your current skills in these academic areas and will help you and your counselor plan your academic schedule, including any remedial courses that may be necessary.

You are encouraged to prepare for the placement test. To review for the placement test visit: accuplacer.collegeboard.org. You will find sample questions on the website and the option to purchase a study app for either your computer or your smartphone that will give you much more review.  

Before students can schedule placement examinations a Delaware County Community College application must be submitted. Students receive an admissions package shortly after applications are received that include important information about accessing the student communications portal delaGATE, and registering for placement tests. English as a Second Language

If your primary spoken language is anything other than English or you were not born in the United States, an ESL placement test is provided.

ESL tests are administered regularly at the Marple Campus and the Southeast Center; please contact Assessment Services for other branch location testing information (information top right).


ACT Exam

Delaware County Community College is a registered site for the National ACT (American College Testing).  The exam is offered in September, December, February, and April.  Taking the ACT on a national basis provides the opportunity to send your score report to Delaware County Community College or any other institution. You must register online at www.actstudent.org.

Residual ACT

Residual ACT testing is provided as an entrance option to the Surgical Technology program.  Test scores are reported to Delaware County Community College and are not transferable to other institutions. Residual testing dates are scheduled and administered by Assessment Services. The test is 3.5 hours in length. The cost for the Residual ACT is $50 and a valid photo ID is required. College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

CLEP examinations measure a person’s knowledge of the material covered in introductory college courses. You may have acquired this knowledge in non-traditional settings (on the job, studying on one’s own, etc.). CLEP credit is treated as transfer credit and is awarded only for a passing score. Non-passing scores do not appear on transcripts.

Registration and payment for a CLEP exam is now done online through the CLEP website: www.collegeboard.com/CLEP. You will be given a ticket ID number to confirm that you have registered. Be sure to print your test voucher for the testing center. Your next step after registering online is to call the Assessment Center (610-359-5322) to schedule a date and time to test. You will be asked for the information on the voucher ticket. 

A $35 non-refundable testing fee per exam is due on the day of the test. Payment can be made at the cashier’s window in Founders Hall prior to testing. Checks can be made payable to Delaware County Community College. The Testing Center is located in the Academic Building, Room 4260 on the Marple Campus.

CLEP tests are offered every Monday at the Marple Campus in the testing center. The testing times are at 10 a.m., noon, 3 p.m., and 6 p.m. After you register and pay for your test at www.collegeboard.org, contact the Assessment Center at 610-359-5320 to schedule a day and time for your test.


Pearson- Vue Test Center

Delaware County Community College is a testing center for Pearson-Vue exams.

High School Equivalency Exams

Delaware County Community College offers two options for candidates to earn a high school diploma.

GED Testing

  • The GED exam is a computer based high school equivalency exam that is proctored in our Pearson Vue Test Center. 
  • The exam is four secions: Language Arts, Science, Mathematics and Social Studies. 
  • Must be 18 years old. 16-17 year olds must contact GED for special registration information. 
  • Exam cost is $30.00 per module.
  • A Pennsylvania identification will be needed for testing. Out of state residents please check the GED website for valid identification requirements. 
  • Candidates can access GED information, study materials and registration information at www.ged.com.

HiSet Exam

  • The HiSet exam is a paper based high school equivalency exam. 
  • The exam is four secions: Language Arts, Science, Mathematics and Social Studies.
  • Must be 18 years old. 16-17 year olds must contact HiSet for special registration information. 
  • A Pennsylvania identification will be needed for testing. Out of state residents please check the HiSet website for valid identification requirements. 
  • Exam cost is $18.00 per module.
  • Candidates can access HiSet information, study materials and registration information at www.hiset.ets.org.
