The mission of the Institutional Diversity Committee is to promote an inclusive culture that recognizes and embraces diversity throughout the institution by fostering a climate of understanding and respect for everyone within the College community.
- Create a community culture that promotes diversity through the awareness, understanding and appreciation of their own and other cultures
- Recruit, retain and empower a diverse student body with special attention to underrepresented groups
- Infuse marginalized perspectives into the curriculum and promote pedagogical strategies that encourage student involvement and facilitate respect for diverse ideas
- Implement employment practices that result in recruitment, retention, and promotion of diversity across all areas of the College, including the most senior administration
A variety of programs are developed throughout the academic year for students, faculty and staff to facilitate a campus climate that values all forms of diversity.
Co-curricular programs are designed to support classroom learning, while challenging and developing the thinking of the community. Any Delaware County Community College faculty who are interested in developing a co-curricular program involving a guest speaker may submit an application.
Black & Latino Male Achievement Initiative
The purpose of this initiative is to improve the academic success rates, retention rates, graduation rates, and overall experiences of Black and Latino males enrolled at Delaware County Community College. The initiative seeks to fulfill this purpose through achieving goals including: completing a needs assessment, evaluating existing programs, enhancing cultural competencies, increasing support of Black and Latino males, and improving visibility of campus programs geared toward the empowerment of Black and Latino males.
College-Wide Reading Program
The College-Wide Reading Program is an initiative intended to provide a common reading that encourages thought, discussion, and collaboration at Delaware County Community College. Titles are selected by popular vote from all members of the College community and all are invited to participate in related activities throughout the academic year.

Intercultural Friendship Program
The Intercultural Friendship Program recognizes the College’s commitment to providing a holistic, meaningful learning experience to all students served. This program partners with the Office of International Student Services and College faculty using the service-learning model to enhance student learning experiences. The goal of the program is for students to experience first-hand, cross-cultural exchange opportunities and to increase their understanding of themselves, others and our campus community.
Latino Initiatives and Outreach Network
Started in 2014 out of a desire to advocate for and support the increasingly growing Latino population, the Latino Initiatives and Outreach Network (LION) is an organization made up of professors, College administrators, and students, who seek to recruit, retain, empower, graduate and advance the Latino/Hispanic population at Delaware County Community College.
Men of Color Helping Alliance
MOCHA formed in 2008 to support and empower ethnic minority male students enrolled at Delaware County Community College. The group meets on a bi-weekly basis to discuss topics such as, steps to success in college, male-female relationships, the impact of discrimination, the value of mentors and society’s perception of black males.
